Each form or racing has it's own "speciality", the funny part is NASCAR drivers have participated in the World Rally Race before and done quite well, where with the exception of one, maybe one, very few other racing genre have had very limited success in NASCAR. And to be honest, NASCAR is the hot Racing genre and over the last few years several open wheel drivers have attempted the switch most with limited experience. Yes it is LEFT turns the majority of the time, but limited downforce, heavy cars, smaller tires it is very hard to drive on the edge. Do not get me wrong, Rally Drivers are crazy as hell... and I have great respect for their abilites and personally I enjoy every form of racing and watch as much as possible.

The only reason anyone switches to Nascar is because of the money. The only time I've heard of a Nascar driver doing anything associated with rally, succesfully, is Robby Gordon. That was Paris-Dakar in a Hummer, and isn't anything remotely similar to WRC. He also races SCORE-Baja series Trophy Trucks, so it's an easy transition for him. Everyone likes different forms of racing for different reasons, but comparing the skill level of Nascar to that of WRC or F1 is patently absurd. It feels a bit like comparing a Navy SEAL operator to a world champion clay pigeon shooter.

interesting, two F1 champions have tried to switch to Nascar, a couple Indy Car Champions, in fact last years Indy Car Champion, all have tried and have had limited success. Recently Robby Gordon was called one of the most natural talented drivers in NASCAR, but he struggles to make races, even when he drove for one the top teams, he had marginal success. Montoya after 4-5 years is finally getting competitive, Villenue lasted 4 races and was fired, he wrecked 8 cars in 4 races, was way off the pace, and even thought about buying a NASCAR team to ensure he could keep his ride, but struggled to get a sponsor. Both of those were F1 Champions, back when F1 was impressive, not the current F1 wimp series. Several NASCAR drivers have entered the World Rally Championship (Gordon, Johnson and others), I believe when Johnson competed, he took a top 5. Gordon jumped in a F1 car at Indy several years back and ran laps that would of placed him on the front row of the previous years race. Right now there are several INDY drivers and a few F1 drivers trying to make their way into next years Nationwide/Cup series. To be honest, I hope they do, the more top drivers makes for a more interesting race, the NASCAR of the last few years has kinda turned me off, ol Jimmy Johnson's has made the "Chase" pretty boring the last few years.

I can't seem to find a single source verifying a Nascar driver competing in WRC. I'm sure there are 12 year-olds in Japan who can add 3-digit numbers faster than Albert Einstein could, but that certainly doesn't make them better mathematicians.

Well, I respect your opinion, but I still stand behind mine, NASCAR is good racing, and they have a few pretty good drivers. Now notice I said, a few pretty good drivers, they also have a bunch of no talent drivers, just as all series have. I'll see if I can find the race championship they ran in. I believe it was a mulitple race deal in Europe about 5-8 years ago during NASCARs off season. FYI- Jimmy Johnson (personally I think he is simply a So-So driver, his crew chief is the man) used to be a Offroad Racer, not sure how much success he had, but that is where his routes are.

Could Gordon have made the jump to F1 by passing the testing test? Probably. There were F1 teams, not frontrunners Ferrari or Williams, interested in him in 2003. Gordon likely would have arrived in F1 in 2000.

Then he would have flopped. BAR was a failure. Villeneuve joined the team in 1999 and was never competitive with it. Gordon wouldn't have been, either. He would have been, like Michael Andretti, another American who couldn't make it in F1.

From an expert.

While no one really knows who made offers to lil Jeffie Poo Gordon except Jeffie and those onwers, he tested with Williams, part of the Car Swap between him and Montoya. Oh and I never said he would of made it, but each form of racing has its own skillsets, F1, ulta light and tons of downforce, NASCAR with the wieght and lack of down force, this makes each series hard and require a special touch to drive fast.

CART is F1's retarded cousin. Tim Tuttle is an enlightened man.

Only in America could driving around in circles in shitty cars be as popular as it is.

I agree that all forms of racing require different skillsets, but Nascar requires 3 skills, and F1/WRC require 20.

We're talking about comparing croquet to golf. The Sex Pistols to Mozart.
