well fuck.. I had a whole bit typed up..  going on about how gay the consoles were and then at the bottom admitting I had a Xbox that my son gave me for Xmas to see if anyone had that...

I have no problems with the internet/router other than the ps4. If I connect to the router with my phone and broadcast wifi for the ps4 it works fine.

Thats very weird. So your saying direct connection to router fails... But if you enable the connection sharing on your phone and teather your ps4 to the router, it works?

Yes, the router is actually upstairs with the landlord and he knows nothing about internet or routers so I would assume he got the router from comcast took it out and set it up. My laptop connects and plays games fine, the nintendo wi is also fine, apple tv works fine, and it worked with the ps4 day one out of the box. just not any day since then.

When it connects directly, does it get an IP?

What it sounds like is hes running out of IP's (like isp limits it). If you have physical access to it, you could try disconnecting one of your devices, power cycle the modem (this is important), and then try to connect it.
