I thought I would share this with you. This is from a friend I served with. We did a West Pac together back in 1990 (first trip to Asia) and then the first Gulf War (FYI, he was on terminal leave and technically out and came back for this first tour). Then we were both recalled (I had been out for 7 years) for Operation Iraqi Freedom and he has been going back ever since. He is now on his fourth tour in Iraq and he has done one tour in Afghanistan. As a Hospital Corpsman, he has gone into harms way while on active duty, with the Marines of his reserve unit and now as a civilian armed guard for civilian contractors (which is what I should be doing). Anyway he has done his service and then some, and I don’t think there is any doubt that he believes that there is a noble reason for being there as you will read;

He continues;

Nice talking to you all and know that i miss each and everyone of you, look forward to sharing some time down the road but until then i will try to stay as cool as possible (average day time heat with reflection off road surface is 118-130 degrees Fahrenheit) Take care and be safe and let us all be grateful for our Great Country and its freedoms and rights that we so often take for granted, let us try to remember while we go by in our daily lives what truly makes us great and the sacrifices so many have made in the past, that allows us to live free... It truly makes me sad when i see Americans who have not seen the deprivation nor poverty to with which my eyes have gazed through out the globe, and show (dis)content and speak out against her (our Country). She may not have always made the perfect decisions but at least as Americans, we are (the) first to lend out a compassionate hand like no one else. some giving more than just sweat, blood, and separation from loved ones just to give people the chance to live free as we live.
AMERICANS are something special and we are doing wonderful things here but you would never see it in the news or unless you see the children who now have hope, but if we leave prematurely, it is no different then leaving a lost child alone crying for his Mother on a empty and dirty street. For some this may be easier than others, but as for me, I was raised differently. Americans don't do this.

Any of you who have not kept informed and personal lives consume all your time, focus and attention leaving no time for the daily fanatical car bomber or the rockets/Mortar attacks carried out against innocent Men, Women, and children... just remember Freedom isn't free and doesn't come without a cost.

I Shall Not Be Afraid of The Terror By Night,
Nor Of The Arrow That flies By Day. Psalm 91:5
