My sister and I went to the 2013 Savage Race in Florida yesterday! Holy crap it was so much fun. The obstacles were great - they ranged from easy to some super hard ones.
I don't have all the pictures yet. I have been taking a crappy disposable waterproof camera with me. Maybe next time Ill have a GoPro, but for now, will have to deal with mailing the film off. So, in a week or so, Ill have some pics from the course itself
Anyhoo.. Heres how we started out. We got lost on the way there. We ended up in the... well... remember how I said there's parts of Florida that are very different from each other?
mmm yes. We also saw this.. Which is a regular 4 door Lancer.
Anyway, we got there just in time for our wave. Here is the course itself:
We finished in about 2:45 minutes - which sounds like a really long time, but you have to keep in mind we went in the non-competitive waves - which means more people - which means lines at each of the obstacles.
I'm actually super proud of how we did this time. I ran almost the entire way and successfully completed all but one obstacles! (the Sawtooth - which if you look at the Savage Race site - its the one with the monkey bars. The rungs were too far apart). Ill post pics of this part once I get them back from Old School Film Development Land. For now, here's some end pics:
If you watch that Japanese show... Iron Warrior, is it? This is the Warped Wall - followed by a slide.
mmm victory beer
Hes probably tired of me thanking him - but Fuzzy helped me a few months ago when I told him this race was coming up and how much harder it was than the normal ones I do. He gave me a work out program and not only has it fixed a problem I was having with my shoulders, I actually had very little problems yesterday! Genius also got me running about a year ago. After a lot of false starts and having to figure out how its going to work for me, I'm running like a little than 4 miles each weekend (this may not sound like a lot, but its a big deal for me. I only totally quit smoking about 6 months ago) Anyway, I'm seriously grateful to the two of you You let me pester you with questions and I wouldn't have even considered doing something like this a year ago. Now my sister and I are hooked
Injury wise... not doing too bad today. My knees / shins are a little bruised up. I think I'm going to lose a toenail - but it does not really hurt. Just feels funny and looks disgusting. My chiropractor is going to LOVE me tomorrow though <3
