whenever I try to play a game of BF2, I hit join server and it goes to my desktop. Doesnt the game do auto updates?
I have played before with this comp.
Can I fix it without uninstalling and reinstalling (cuz that takes too long)?
it goes to desktop?

It doesnt do auto updates. You have to update it manually.

Try either hitting ESC instead of "Join Game", or just way 10-15 seconds before hitting "Join Game".

In the end, the only permanent working fix is reinstalling (because no one has found a working solution yet).
