Here's honesty. A '99+ GM PICKUP will beat a Mustang GT. It takes a blower on a Ford to beat a Naturally Aspirated GM.

Interesting debate, but whats needs to be considered is that the Mustang has a 4.6 liter displacement while the GM vehicles typically run a 5.7 liter in their performance vehicles. I've built and owned many a track car (GM, Ford, Dodge) and in my opinion, their is no getting around displacement (with all other things being equal) without a little "help". What makes the ford attractive is the price point, and the fact that performance parts are reasonable and plentiful. ...and don't forget, the driver makes a big difference when actually getting into it.

Displacement, as zero said, was kind of "skipped" in someone’s (ahem) head-to-head comparison....everything being equal...as it should be when comparing cars fairly, the driver makes or breaks it.
